Primary School Learning Assistant - Physical Education (Pe)
  • Seeking an experienced PE Learning Assistant
  • Full-time, ongoing position, term-time only (203/240 days)

About the Role

Learning Assistants work alongside classroom Teachers as part of a cooperative team and provide a vibrant, dynamic and innovative educational program for our students.

As a Learning Assistant in the Physical Education team, the role holder will:

  • Have a keen interest, passion and experience in a range of sports and the Physical Literacy Continuum.
  • Assist PE teachers in delivering engaging PE lessons and activities.
  • Supervise and support students during PE classes, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Set up and maintain sports equipment and facilities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need additional help.
  • Encourage and motivate students to participate actively in physical activities.
  • Assist in organising and running school sports events, competitions, and extracurricular activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to PE teachers.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to the PE department, such as maintaining records and preparing materials.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to a highly dynamic support role.

As a Learning Assistant, the incumbent will be expected to:

About You

You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:

  • A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • Obtain or willing to obtain HLTAID012 or HLTAID004 Provide first aid in an education and care setting
  • Qualifications or experience in working with students with needs
  • Experience working with students with additional needs e.g. behavioural support, learning support, social support, and emotional support
  • Sound oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with students, parents, and teaching professionals
  • Sound interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team
  • Well-developed organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective educational programs to students
  • The ability to assist with the general well-being of students
