Principal Advanced Analysis Engineer

About the job

We’re looking for a Principal Advanced Analysis Engineer to join our Singapore team.

When you work for us, you get the chance to join nearly 50,000 people all driven by a common purpose of delivering a more sustainable world. We’re excited about the challenges ahead. We believe there’s never been a more rewarding time to work in the energy, chemical and resources sectors.

We offer a flexible approach to working, because our people are safer, healthier, and more productive when they can balance work with life. That’s why there are flexible and hybrid working options, so you can choose when, where and how you work.

As a Principal Advanced Analysis Engineer , you will be responsible for developing numerical simulations using Finite Element Method (FEM) to support engineering and design of submarine pipelines. The numerical simulations may be in relation to global pipeline structural response, such as global buckling, pipeline walking, and/or local components analysis such as bulkhead stress analysis, etc.

Who we are

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts headquartered in Australia.

Right now, we’re bridging two worlds as we accelerate to more sustainable energy sources, while helping our customers provide the energy, chemicals and resources that society needs now.

We partner with our customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their portfolio of assets. We solve complex problems by finding integrated data-centric solutions from the first stages of consulting and engineering to installation and commissioning, to the last stages of decommissioning and remediation. Join us and help drive innovation and sustainability in our projects.

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Principal Advanced Analysis Engineer to join our team in Singapore .

The role responsibilities include:

  • Support Sr. Principal engineer in using numerical methods to solve complex engineering problems by developing appropriate numerical simulations using Finite Element Method (FEM) with ABAQUS / ANSYS software.

  • Develop numerical models of pipeline and/or associated components using Finite Element Method (FEM) independently or with minimal guidance, including modelling of soil elements for pipe-soil-interaction simulations.

  • Perform numerical simulations for static and dynamic analysis based on the engineering requirements of submarine pipelines and associated components and, where necessary, develop sub-routines and scripts to optimise running time. The numerical simulations may include fracture, fatigue and impact assessment, modal analysis, etc. of the modelled pipeline and/or associated components.

  • Where applicable, the numerical simulations should be developed in compliance with international design codes for submarine pipelines and offshore structures, including DNVGL, API, ASME, etc.

  • Interpret and explain the results and findings of the simulations analyses. The results and findings should be explained with the fundamental engineering principals applicable in the design of submarine pipelines and associated subsea structures, including PLEM, PLET, etc.

What you’ll have

  • Knowledge and experience in numerical modelling with Finite Element Method (FEM) with 10 years of experience or longer in pipeline and structural components FEM analysis.

  • Ability to develop numerical models independently or with minimal guidance and, interpret and explain the results and findings of the simulation analyses.

  • Good knowledge and fundamental understanding on soil modelling, fracture mechanics, fatigue, damage and modal analysis to support various numerical simulations requirements.

  • Good working knowledge of ABAQUS / ANSYS software with the ability to develop user subroutines and scripts.

  • Fundamental understanding on engineering design of submarine pipelines and associated subsea structures, including PLEM, PLET, etc.

  • Fundamental understanding of international codes and standards for submarine pipelines and offshore structures, including DNVGL, ASME, API, ISO, etc.

  • Master or Doctorate (preferable) in Mechanical/ Civil Engineering and/or Materials Science.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in numerical modelling with Finite Element Method (FEM).

Why you should apply

  • Leading global provider of professional project & asset services in energy, chemicals & resources.

  • We deliver the world’s most complex projects.

  • Join a high-performing team.

  • Join a fun and inclusive, global team of professionals.

  • Opportunities to progress beyond this role.

Moving forward together

We want our people to be energized and empowered to drive sustainable impact. So, our focus is on a values-inspired culture that unlocks brilliance through belonging, connection and innovation.
