Position Summary

Five Star Marketplace is seeking a motivated and dependable Produce Manager to lead daily operations of the produce department in our Knox, Indiana location. This hands-on role is responsible for product quality, ordering, inventory control, merchandising, shrink management, and department-level team leadership.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of produce or grocery experience, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of freshness, presentation, and customer service.

Core Responsibilities

Department Operations

• Oversee daily operations of the produce department
• Ensure product freshness, proper rotation, and quality standards
• Maintain clean, organized, and foodsafe displays
• Monitor shrink and implement lossprevention practices

Ordering & Inventory Management

• Place produce orders and maintain appropriate inventory levels
• Analyze sales trends and adjust ordering accordingly
• Receive deliveries and verify product accuracy and quality
• Ensure proper storage and rotation using FIFO standards

Merchandising & Presentation

• Build attractive, wellstocked produce displays
• Maintain accurate pricing and signage
• Execute seasonal and promotional displays
• Ensure department appearance aligns with overall store standards

Team Leadership

• Supervise and support produce department staff
• Assist with scheduling and training
• Reinforce performance expectations and accountability
• Deliver excellent customer service and address concerns professionally

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of produce or grocery experience required
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Knowledge of produce handling, rotation, and food safety standards
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Dependable, selfmotivated, and able to work independently
