The Ascension Experience Research & Design Team within Ascension GMDx - Growth Marketing Digital Experience group - exists to accelerate Ascension’s journey to transform healthcare, for those we seek to serve and those who serve, by delivering human-centered experiences powered by people, design, data, and technology.
Internship Summary
The Ascension Digital Product Design Internship Program is designed to provide an on-the-job learning opportunity aimed at gaining "real world" product design work experience, supporting healthcare workers and patients.
The Digital Product Design Intern will grow in their design, collaboration, and product strategy skills through various work assignments. In addition, the intern may attend department meetings and hospital/healthcare site visits to gain an understanding of information technology and its impact in the healthcare environment.
Objective
Ascension Studio’s objective is to provide a working and learning environment where interns can develop the skills and competencies necessary to grow into successful product design professionals and potential Ascension associates.
Essential Functions:

• Work with cross-functional teams in an Agile development model
• Participate in team meetings and ceremonies
• Assist in the ideation and design of a wide range of experiences including software apps and service design
• Participate in feedback discussions with users and internal stakeholders to refine concepts
• Present designs for critique and feedback to stakeholders and fellow xRD members
• Pursue feedback from other teammates (Design, Product, Development)
• Collaborate with the xRD team to conduct user research using various methodologies such as surveys, interviews, and usability testing.
• Analyze and synthesize research findings to identify insights and opportunities for improving digital experiences.
• Assist in developing wireframes, prototypes, and user interface designs based on user-centered design principles.
• Contribute to user testing sessions and iterate designs based on feedback and usability findings.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including marketers, developers, and content creators to ensure design solutions meet user needs and business objectives.
• Contribute to ongoing projects aimed at optimizing website usability, multi-language, ADA accessibility, and overall user satisfaction.

Requirements

Education:

• High school diploma equivalency OR Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline required.

Additional Preferences

Intern Qualifications

• Recently graduated or current degree seeking major working toward a certification, bachelor’s or master’s degree in HCI, interaction design, service design, or related degree with coursework in user experience design.
• We will also consider applicants in non-collegiate design programs and those with previous real-world experience.
• Knowledge of design methodologies such as design systems, user interface design, heuristic evaluation, information architecture mapping, flow diagramming, sketching and ideating, wireframing, prototyping, creating detailed design specifications for hand-off to developers
• Proficient in Google Suite tools or equivalent
• Proven organizational skills
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Passion for user-centered design and improving digital experiences.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas and insights effectively.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and learning.
