Position Summary:
As a member of the Product Performance Team, you will be involved in generating world class suspension performance for our OE customers and our racers. In this role you will be primarily responsible for meeting specific damper performance to satisfy our customers either internal or external. You will also work to improve overall relationships with OEMs and support the OEM sales team in their efforts to increase business.
Position Responsibilities:
- Tune all FOX suspension to maximize performance while also aligning with manufacturing limitations. Stack height, pressure balance, etc.
- Prepare suspension samples for a specific test with a high level of detail and precision.
- Organize and execute OEM bike test sessions and tuning method to align with the global tuning method established by the Product Performance team.
- Support the OEM sales staff with technical assistance including bike builds and test trip organization.
- Provide test reports for all OE and Race testing events.
- Understand product details and be able to speak to key features and benefits while in field testing.
- Work with engineering and assist in engineering design by providing detailed information and reporting results of the OE tuning session.
- Manage parts and product inventory needs to support testing.
- Work in cooperation with race and engineering to provide feedback to further product development.
- Report any field issues encountered via the QRT.
- Consult with OEM’s engineering teams when appropriate to review kinematics and advise optimal combinations with FOX components.
- Offer basic service training to OEM customer support staff as requested.
- Assist with PRF (sample build) requests worldwide.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Ability to work in a team environment using excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical areas of business.
- Experience in the use of suspension development tools in the advancement of suspension performance.
- Significant suspension tuning experience at a professional level.
- Has shown the ability to lead tuning efforts in high pressure situations.
- Can specifically target increases or decreases in damping forces without affecting other areas of performance.
- Understands the nuances of suspension tuning and has experience successfully navigating complex testing situations.
- Seen as an expert in the field of suspension tuning.
- High level of understanding of chassis dynamics and it’s impact on suspension performance.
- Can write new dyno programs to achieve different development goals.
- Mentor other team members on how best to achieve a desired damper characteristic.
- Can maintain a shock dynamometer.
- Assist with the installation of a data acquisition system
- Assist with the calibration of sensors and data collection.
- Actively uses data acquisition system(s) to reach tuning targets
- Leads OE tuning events for any shock or fork platform. Often guides OE’s to a solution.
- Oversees and helps guide the work of level 1 and 2 technicians.
- Capable of giving professional presentations to upper management.
- Requires very little oversight.
- Records data, makes computations, analyzes results, and writes reports.
- Follow current FOX process as well as drive changes to increase efficiency.
- Works in a safe manner in accordance with Fox policies.
- Maintain machinery and assets according to documented schedule.
Position Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma required. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience: 10+ Years Suspension Development experience.
Experience leading tuning sessions or suspension development sessions.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Indoor lab environment and various outdoor environments, including tech van.
- Significant travel time primarily throughout Europe. Some international travel is required.
- Team environment
- Frequent presence in Test lab, Engineering lab, and Factory where safety is priority
- Test riding that requires physical endurance
