Job Description:
About the role:
Acting as a subject matter expert, the Product Specialist assists in the management of a portfolio of existing products. They work closely with Product Managers during the execution of new products and services and contribute to and maintain existing products.
This role supports various product management and development activities such as creating content for marketing materials, answering questions from various stakeholders, and keeping track of legislative changes. For Disability products, Product Specialists occasionally assist in resolving service issues by working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, inclusive of impacted employer or employee.
What will you do?
- Act as a subject matter expert on a portfolio of products
- Respond to all inquiries promptly and effectively, including assisting in preparing responses to Requests for Proposal
- Maintain and manage Extended Health Care product inbox to answer inquiries and manage urgent requirements for current state products and solutions
- Participate on product development projects for existing products as a product specific subject matter expert, adding context, background and information as required
- Proactively monitor the market landscape, including changes to government programs and competitors’ product & service offering
- Assist with gathering data and reports used in product analysis activities
- Participate on industry committees as required
What do you need to succeed?
- 2 to 3 years of experience within the insurance industry
- Understanding of Group Benefits, in particular Extended Health Care, Life and Disability products
- Strong customer service skills
- Able to manage and resolve escalations
- Able to manage multiple tasks with short delivery timeframes
- Ability to analyze industry trends and determine impact on our products
- Proficiency in data analysis with ability to manipulate within MS Excel
Preferred Skills:
- 1 to 2 years of direct experience with Disability products is an asset
- Bilingual (French)
- Project Management skills

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
