Today, we're looking for a Production Technician to join the Operations team based at the Christchurch Head Office in Aotearoa | New Zealand. Working as part of the Production team they build, test and calibrate our instruments before they are exported around the world.

As a Production Technician at Syft:


You’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality instruments to our customers efficiently and on time. Each stage of production builds on the work of the previous team, so attention to detail and a commitment to excellence are essential. Your workmanship directly impacts the entire production process, making precision and collaboration key to success. Working alongside your colleagues in the Production team, you will (but not limited to):
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot gas analysis instruments for accuracy and reliability.
  • Perform mechanical/electrical assembly, testing, and quality inspections.
  • Provide technical support to production teams and assist with resolving performance issues.
  • Contribute to production and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support other production areas as needed.

About you


You will have a good foundation in technical training in an engineering discipline. Any prior knowledge of electrical, software, chemical, and mechanical systems is advantageous. So naturally you will have:
Essential
  • Education & experience - Diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering OR equivalent experience (e.g., boutique or low-volume manufacturing).
  • Solid experience in building, tuning, and fault-finding.
  • Ability to understand complex sub-systems and their interconnections.
  • Hands-on, methodical approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of high-tech manufacturing and development processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely.
Desirable
  • Electrical compliance – solid understanding of electrical compliance including holding a EWRB licence is highly desirable.
