This position is expected to be a remote role based on the East Coast of the United States, though other locations in the U.S. may be considered for well-qualified candidates.
Join ClientEarth Americas’ growing team to spearhead our legal work focused on Latin America and the Caribbean (“LAC”).
ClientEarth is an international environmental legal organization that works on the full suite of environmental issues globally. ClientEarth Americas is an independent 501(c)(3) organization that works in strategic partnership with ClientEarth Group, a UK-headquartered international group of entities.
As global lead for LAC work, you will coordinate strategy and ensure alignment across jurisdictions, working in close partnership with regional teams and contributing to ClientEarth’s overall organizational priorities.

Danielle spearheads the strategic direction and leads programmatic work for ClientEarth Americas as its Executive Director. To empower this work, Danielle also builds relationships with key funders, engages with the Board of Directors, and oversees operational aspects of the organization. As a member of ClientEarth’s global management team, Danielle collaborates with her colleagues around the world in support of a shared global mission to bring about systemic change that protects the earth for – and with – its inhabitants.
Main Duties
- Spearheading ClientEarth’s legal strategy focused on Latin America and the Caribbean, including (1) strategic development and execution of cases and legal interventions in the U.S., (2) stewarding and facilitating the strategy across teams in the UK and around Europe, and (3) general coordination with colleagues and partners in Asia;
- Researching, analyzing, and developing strategies to employ U.S. law to address biodiversity loss- and climate-related financial risks and opportunities relevant to companies and financial institutions operating or investing in LAC;
- Evaluating and managing legal, reputational, and strategic risks and opportunities associated with potential cases and campaigns;
- Representing the organization with donors and contributing to fundraising and donor engagement efforts where appropriate (including developing and supporting compelling funding proposals, aligning narratives with organizational strategy and impact)

Role requirements
- Law degree or equivalent (essential)
- Admission to practice in at least one U.S. state (essential)
- Significant litigation or complex legal advocacy experience (essential)
- Experience as a senior associate or partner at a top-tier U.S. law firm and/or experience leading strategic litigation teams to advance novel impact litigation (essential)
- Demonstrated interest in the intersection of climate change, biodiversity loss, Indigenous rights, and financial and corporate systems (essential)
