Scope of Job:
Be a force of positive energy to help create AWESOME marketing programs that get our fans excited about LEGOLAND® Florida Resort. In this role, you’ll assist with business cases and initiatives that drive visitation, increase consumer purchasing, and inspire loyalty to and advocacy of LEGOLAND Florida Resort. This intern will gain a well-rounded understanding of public relations fundamentals, including communication strategy development, relationship building and branded content creation, for LEGOLAND Florida Resort and Merlin Entertainments.
The perfect candidate would be an organized individual who is excited to learn about the theme park industry and to dive into different facets of marketing.
This intern will be responsible for assisting with projects across all current and future properties at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, including LEGOLAND® Theme Park, LEGOLAND® Water Park, Peppa Pig Theme Park and three onsite hotels: LEGOLAND® Hotel, LEGOLAND® Pirate Island Hotel and LEGOLAND® Beach Retreat. This role may also have the opportunity to assist with programs developed across North America LEGOLAND Resorts.
The 2023 Fall internship:
- Support Resort events, including Brick-or-Treat Monster Party, Holidays at LEGOLAND and Kids New Year’s Eve, as well as the kick-off of planning + implementing marketing programs for 2024
- Begins mid-August 2023 and will go through December 2023, exact dates to be determined
- Will require a minimum of 24 hours each week, which can be set to be flexible around school schedule, and 40 hours per week is preferred
- Will be an onsite position at LEGOLAND Florida Resort located in Winter Haven, FL
- Includes formalized training opportunities at Merlin Entertainments, including leadership and career workshops, and access to development tools
Main Responsibilities:
- Participate in brainstorm sessions to strategize for upcoming events and media opportunities, with a focus on PR tactics and pitches
- Help develop various PR materials, including media alerts, press releases and fact sheets
- Assist with national and regional media relations, including onsite live shots, developing talking points and story strategy
- Use media monitoring services to track coverage and develop media contact lists
- Develop and maintain inventory of marketing materials to support promotional and event opportunities
- Help team in developing content for multiple social media platforms and catalog user-generated content for future posts
- Assist the Social Media + Digital Content Manager with influencer collaboration requests
- Review LEGOLANDFlorida.com website for content accuracy on an ongoing basis and recommend content revisions when appropriate to encourage positive guest experience.
- Complete administrative tasks as assigned to include presentation generation, ticket requests, media event recaps, etc.
Background and Experience:
- Demonstrated interest in public relations and communications
- Strong interpersonal skills, public-speaking skills, problem-solving abilities and organization skills
- Excellent verbal, written and proofreading skills
- Must be energetic, self-motivated, and demonstrate a strong personal desire to achieve results
- Capable of multi-tasking, in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment & extremely detail-oriented & resourceful
- Ability to work onsite at LEGOLAND Florida Resort (Winter Haven) and maintain professional business relationships
- Computer proficiency in Outlook, PowerPoint, Word & Excel
- Experience within the theme park/hospitality/tourism industry is preferred
Education:
Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and enrolled as a sophomore-level or greater in marketing, communications, public relations, business, or similar college/university program or have graduated within the last six months
Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA) if currently enrolled or a final GPA if recent graduate

Physical Demands:
§ Ability to sit for sustained periods of time to attend on-site and off-site meetings, perform paperwork activities, travel and drive.
§ Intermittent and prolonged ability to move about the park site,and interact with employees.
§ Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.
§ Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials, to complete paperwork activities, and to drive.
§ Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.
Work Environment:
§ Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.
§ Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
Other Job Requirements:
§ Performs other duties as assigned.
§ Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support park operations.
§ Must have a valid driver’s license, safe driving record and be willing to utilize own vehicle for business purposes.
§ Job may require domestic travel.
§ Attendance is a mandatory function of this job.
