We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Rails developer to join our engineering team. You will work on server-side application code, APIs, and integrations that power our web products. This role requires strong Ruby on Rails experience, attention to maintainable code, and a pragmatic approach to shipping reliable features.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs using Ruby on Rails
  • Collaborate with product, design, and frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end features
  • Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to maintain quality
  • Improve application performance, scalability, and reliability through profiling and refactoring
  • Work with SQL and data modeling; optimize queries and schema where needed
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and help automate deployments and testing
  • Document systems, APIs, and operational runbooks to support on-call and maintenance activities

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience developing with Ruby on Rails or equivalent web frameworks
  • Strong proficiency with Ruby and Rails conventions, ActiveRecord, and RESTful design
  • Experience building and consuming JSON APIs; familiarity with GraphQL is a plus
  • Proficient with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), schema design, and query optimization
  • Practical knowledge of testing strategies (RSpec, Minitest) and test-driven development
  • Experience with Docker, containerization, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Familiar with background job systems (Sidekiq, ActiveJob) and message queues
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative Agile environment with remote team members

Nice to Have

  • Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Vue) and integrating Rails APIs with single-page apps
  • Familiarity with observability tooling (Prometheus, Datadog, Sentry)
  • Knowledge of security best practices and common web vulnerabilities
  • Open-source contributions or public technical writing

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and equity opportunities
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Flexible work hours and remote-friendly policies
  • Professional development budget and learning opportunities
  • Generous paid time off and parental leave

How to Apply

Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter highlighting relevant Rails projects. Include links to repositories or deployed work if available. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and are committed to equitable hiring practices.
