Job Overview

Duties

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories.
• Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusions and immunizations, following strict aseptic techniques.
• Manage complex medical procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, and ventilator management.
• Coordinate patient care plans through case management, discharge planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks to document medical records accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and basic laboratory testing.
• Provide specialized care in areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, trauma medicine at Level I or Level II trauma centers, or post-acute care settings like hospice or memory care.
• Support patients with diverse needs including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia.
• Implement infection control protocols and adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety.
• Assist in emergency situations using advanced airway management skills and basic life support (BLS).

Requirements

• Valid nursing license (RN) in good standing with relevant state licensing boards.
• Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency room settings; trauma center experience is highly valued.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards for documentation and billing purposes.
• Experience with complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization, dialysis management, ostomy care or neurovascular assessments preferred.
• Ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations accurately.
• Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication abilities.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and sterile processing techniques.
• Working familiarity with Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across inpatient and outpatient settings including assisted living, home & community care or hospital environments.
• Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or specialized certifications in geriatrics or behavioral health are advantageous. Pay: $36.21 - $43.61 per hour
