Exciting new opportunity based in the South Island as a Reporter.

The opportunity - Te tūranga

We're looking for a talented Reporter to join our South Island team. As a Reporter based in Dunedin reporting to Team Leader Reporters -Christchurch, you will bring New Zealand audiences news and perspectives from Dunedin and the wider Otago and Southland regions.

The focus in this role will be on break stories and report on nationally significant events for all TVNZ's news programmes and platforms.

Your responsibilities will include generating exclusive/original/enterprise stories, working and communicating with the Team Lead Reporters - Christchurch to ensure news and sports stories can be developed for use on any TVNZ NCA programme or platform such as 1News.co.nz and News on TVNZ+

What We're Looking For - Tā mātou e kimi nei:

We are looking for a journalist with a passion for video news and reporting on the national and local issues that matter to Dunedin and the Otago region. Our ideal candidate can work to a deadline and perform well under pressure.

You will be a team player with a willingness to work towards the smooth operation of the Dunedin bureau. However, with periods working on your own, you'll need to have confidence to make decisions and a high-level of trouble shooting and problem-solving ability. We also want someone who is safety conscious and able communicate clearly if safety concerns arise.

Driven and focused you will demonstrate high levels of integrity and honesty. We want someone adaptable and proactive with strong interpersonal skills across a broad range of levels, cultures and skills areas.

A tertiary journalism qualification is preferred as is practical experience in a broadcast news environment and familiarity with the Otago and Southland regions.
