Radio-Canada is seeking two (2) journalists to join the Montreal newsroom team.
These are permanent, full-time positions.
Your role
As a reporter based in Montreal, you will file for all our platforms to cover news and current events with clarity, accuracy and depth. You will do live hits on ICI RDI, report for Le Téléjournal, radio newscasts and programs; as well as for our digital platforms.
You will be required to go out into the field to gather information and present it in compliance with Journalistic Standards and Practices. You must demonstrate creativity and originality and produce content within tight deadlines.
Please note that the planned assignments are on an atypical schedule. By way of example, one of the positions will be assigned a Friday to Monday schedule. The other may be required to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on the needs. The work schedule for both positions is subject to change based on operational needs.
Your profile:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Three (3) years’ journalism experience
- One (1) year’s experience reporting live for television, an asset
Skills:
Relevant experience in preparation of news content for television and radio- Relevant experience in live reporting for television and radio
- Proven ability in the field and knowledge of newsroom production operations
- Extensive general knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of Montreal, provincial, national and international affairs
- Recognized ability to simplify and deliver complex content
- Excellent attitude and work ethic
- Interest and instinct for digital media
- Ability to thrive in a team environment while being a resourceful self-starter
- Ability to plan, organize and co-ordinate your day-to-day work so as to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Enterprising and inquisitive approach to fact-gathering
- Solid command of spoken and written French (working language), with outstanding spelling and grammar
- Good knowledge of English, an asset
- Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s mandate and Journalistic Standards and Practices
Additional requirements:
- Availability and willingness to work irregular hours and to travel
- Valid driver’s licence as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance company
