- Writing News content and contributing to Sport and Entertainment coverage
- Sub-editing copy to ensure it is accurate, engaging, legally sound and ready for publication
- Monitoring other media outlets, social platforms and emerging trends
- Updating social media accounts and helping to optimise content for digital audiences
- Sourcing and verifying content from social media and other external sources
What you'll need to be considered
- Strong reporting and writing experience in a news environment
- Excellent news judgement and the ability to recognise and develop stories quickly
- A proven ability to produce accurate, reliable and engaging copy under pressure
- Strong sub-editing skills and a thorough understanding of media law
- Good knowledge of the UK and Ireland news agenda
- Confidence working across a broad range of subjects, including News, Sport and Entertainment
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with customers and colleagues
- NCTJ qualification or equivalent journalism training
It would also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience of working with video or picture content
- Knowledge of sports news, including US sport
- Knowledge of entertainment and celebrity news
- Experience publishing content across digital and social platforms
What we offer
This role will put you at the heart of media and journalism and no two days will be the same. You’ll have the opportunity to work with people at every level across the organisation and can also expect:
- Competitive salary and benefits that recognise your contribution
- The opportunity to work with talented colleagues in a supportive and collaborative environment
- A positive culture where your contribution is valued
