[What the role is]
The ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute is a leading research centre dedicated to the study of socio-political, security and economic trends and developments in Southeast Asia and its wider geostrategic and economic development. Applications are invited for:

Research Officer, ASEAN Studies Centre

[What you will be working on]

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provides research support to the Coordinator and Lead Researchers in ASEAN Studies Centre
  • Assists in the editing and production of the Centre’s publications, including ASEANFocus+ and the State of Southeast Asia Survey Report
  • Assists in the organisation and management of conferences, training workshops and seminars/webinars including emceeing and note-taking as and when required
  • Maintains the Centre’s webpage, mailing lists and social media including the active dissemination of its research outputs
  • Anchors the Centre’s public outreach efforts and supports projects related to the understanding of ASEAN and the promotion of ASEAN studies
  • Undertakes research projects under the guidance of ASC Lead Researchers

[What we are looking for]

Requirements

  • BA/MA degree in international relations, political science, economics, sociology, Southeast Asian Studies or related fields.
  • Good communication and writing skills in English
  • Proficiency in a Southeast Asian language is a bonus
  • Experience in copy-editing and other forms of editorial work would be highly desirable
  • Knowledge of quantitative survey methodologies and statistical work
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as Excel, Stata, or R
  • Data visualization skills will be an advantage
  • Positive work attitude and ability to work under demanding circumstances
  • Team spirit, self-motivated and a high sense of professionalism
