About the Role
Swinburne is seeking a Research Tenders and Industry Contracts Manager to lead the end-to-end management of research tendering and contracting processes within the Research and Industry Contracts unit. This role is key to supporting the university’s research growth by identifying tender opportunities, coordinating submissions, managing panels, and overseeing contract negotiation and execution.

You will provide strategic and operational advice, guide researchers through complex tender processes, and ensure compliance with university policies. The role also involves budgeting support, risk assessments, due diligence, and coordination with legal where needed.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Research and Industry Contracts, you will drive continuous improvement of tendering processes, lead training initiatives, and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Strong contract and project management experience, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of research environments are essential.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated contract management experience including the development of tender responses and commercial proposals
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting, negotiating and advising on research contracts within the higher education or commercial or government environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of key issues and risks associated with research and commercial contracts and the ability to identify, understand, and clearly articulate the implications of contracts terms and risk
  • Ability to apply initiative, judgement and problem-solving skills, particularly to issues in commercial contracting

Qualifications
Completion of a relevant tertiary qualification with relevant experience or an equivalent combination and/or education/training
