POSITION OVERVIEW
USAC is hiring a full-time Resident Director for its academic program in Verona, Italy, located on the IUSVE campus. The program runs year‑round, including Fall and Spring semesters (September–May) and two summer sessions (late May–July/early August). The Resident Director oversees all on-site operations, supports the needs and well-being of approx. 30–55 U.S. (and occasional international) students per session, and manages all professional communication and coordination with the U.S.-based central office and administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Representation
- Serve as USAC’s professional, in-person representative in Verona.
- Provide leadership in all aspects of the program.
- Maintain consistent, transparent communication with the CEO and U.S. Central Office.
- Supervise and train program assistants.
- Collaborate with other USAC Resident Directors in Italy and worldwide.
- Oversee all daily operations, student needs, and program activities.
- Maintain a consistent presence in the USAC office on campus.
- Organize and lead orientations, meetings, excursions, and cultural activities.
- Ensure accurate and updated program information across all USAC systems and materials.
- Support students with medical, personal, academic, disciplinary, and emergency issues.
- Work closely with USAC Health & Safety and other Central Office teams.
- Manage immigration, visa, and residence requirements for participants.
- Maintain office hours to address and support the students’ and instructors’ questions and concerns.
- Coordinate, inspect, and monitor student housing, including legal and financial documentation.
- Manage transportation, lodging, and logistics for field trips and tours (day trips and multi day travel).
- Recruit instructors, secure syllabi, negotiate salaries, and arrange classroom space.
- Train instructors on U.S. academic expectations and monitor performance.
- Ensure academic integrity and adherence to USAC policies.
- Prepare session budgets and monthly financial reports with strict accuracy.
- Maintain receipts and oversee local legal, banking, and payroll matters.
- Provide regular updates to Central Office on program operations.
- Strengthen collaboration with the host university and local partners.
- Develop opportunities for student integration: volunteering, internships, language partners, sports, and cultural engagement.
- Promote the program through social media in coordination with USAC marketing team.
- Be available year-round, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Participate in required training in Italy and the U.S.
- Travel nationally and internationally as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Fluency in Italian and English (written and spoken).
- Legal authorization to live and work in Italy; must reside in Verona.
- Master’s degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 3-5 years full-time work experience.
- Experience working with university students and in academic environments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, cross-time-zone- environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office, databases, social media, Salesforce, and related technology.
- Ability to handle challenging situations professionally and calmly.
- Commitment to international education and student development.
- Availability for extended hours and overnight travel.
- Extensive knowledge of Italian culture and strong cross-cultural competency.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ph.D., Ed.D. or equivalent.
- 3–5 years related full-time experience.
- Experience studying, working, or traveling internationally.
- Experience with U.S. and international students.
- Familiarity with U.S. higher education systems and trends.
- Ability to teach a course in the program.
- Experience with curriculum development and academic oversight.
- Professional experience in public speaking and executive communication.
- Leadership experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
SALARY IS COMMENSURATE WITH QUALIFICATIONS.
POSITION TENTATIVE START DATE: APRIL/MAY 2026.
