The Amore Italian Limited is dedicated to delivering authentic Italian cuisine and exceptional dining experiences. We are currently seeking a professional and experienced Restaurant Manager to join our team in Christchurch. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for ensuring every guest enjoys a memorable dining experience.
Key Duties:
- Act as the senior on-site decision-maker with full authority over restaurant operations, staffing, and service delivery, operating independently of the owners/directors.
- Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant to ensure smooth service and high operational standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain operational policies, service standards, and internal procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Prepare, manage, and monitor budgets, analyse sales performance, labour costs, and profit margins, and implement strategies to improve financial outcomes.
- Prepare operational and financial performance reports for owners/directors, providing insights on risks, staffing requirements, and growth opportunities.
- Lead the recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing development of front-of-house and kitchen staff.
- Set performance expectations, conduct formal performance reviews, and implement improvement or disciplinary action plans where required.
- Prepare and manage staff rosters to ensure efficient coverage during service periods.
- Plan, organise, and manage special functions and private dining events.
- Oversee purchasing, pricing, and cost control of food and beverage items.
- Collaborate with chefs to plan menus and ensure consistency and quality.
- Maintain accurate records for stock, staff timesheets, and operational documentation.
- Monitor costs, manage cash balances, and minimise waste to support profitability.
- Receive and check deliveries, reconcile supplier invoices, and complete daily cash handling and banking.
- Supervise, support, and motivate both front-of-house and kitchen teams to achieve consistent service excellence.
- Promote a warm and welcoming dining environment by maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
- Professionally handle and resolve escalated customer feedback and complaints.
- Respond to customer enquiries and special requests with a high standard of service.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and compliant workplace in accordance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week, and you will be paid between $30 to $35 per hour.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
- LCQ is required
- Valid Manager's Certificate is preferred
- Availability to work on weekends, late evenings, and public holidays.
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
- Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Leadership ability with a focus on operational excellence.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
