Organizational Setting

The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.
Technical Focus
To carry out surveys, studies and purposeful analyses on appropriate strategies in the implementation of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (ATER) projects aimed at promoting food and nutritional security of the Yanomami population in the state of Amazonas, with the main focus of the work being the experiences observed in the projects supported by the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) and Family Agriculture in the state. As well as proposing institutional arrangements and interaction with other actions in the Yanomami territory, coordinated by other ministries.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Conduct bibliographic research and data and information surveys in institutional documents and tools;
- Prepare reports and data sheets, in a format to be specified, pertinent to the activities of this Term of Reference;
- To define, together with the supervision of the consultancy, the aspects to be considered as the object of analysis in each of the regions where the activities are carried out;
- Technical support in workshops and meetings relevant to the preparation of technical deliverables, upon request by DATER/SE/MDA.
- Provide the MDA with information and parameters regarding the topic pertinent to this Term of Reference.
- Perform systematization of the material produced throughout the consultancy;

Minimum Requirements
- University degree in in Sciences, Human Sciences or Applied Social Sciences, according to the CAPES/CNPq table of knowledge
- Minimum experience of 06 (six) years in programs or public policies aimed at rural development, family farming or Technical Assistance and Rural Extension.
- Working knowledge of English and Portuguese
- National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit

Technical/Functional Skills
- Experience in the execution and/or evaluation of projects aimed at sustainable rural development with a focus on the ethnodevelopment of indigenous peoples or traditional communities.
