School Bus Driver

Duties

• Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, mechanical soundness, and cleanliness before each route.
• Transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and special events while maintaining punctuality.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers to coordinate schedules and address concerns.
• Manage student behavior on the bus using positive behavior management techniques and ensure a respectful environment for all passengers.
• Assist students with disabilities or special needs, providing compassionate childcare support when necessary.
• Complete accurate logs of routes, mileage, and any incidents or maintenance issues encountered during shifts.

Experience

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transportation.
• Prior experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or similar roles involving large vehicle operation.
• Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems related to bus operation and basic vehicle maintenance.
• Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques to handle student conduct effectively.
