Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Day Porter to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and overall maintenance of our school facilities during the school day. This vital role involves maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors while supporting daily operations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess a strong commitment to facility upkeep. As a School Day Porter, you will play a key role in creating a positive learning environment by providing efficient custodial and maintenance services throughout the school day.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitation to uphold high standards of cleanliness.
- Assist with general custodial duties using commercial cleaning equipment and supplies to ensure all areas are well-maintained.
- Support facilities maintenance needs by reporting repairs or hazards promptly and assisting with light maintenance tasks as needed.
- Manage janitorial supplies inventory, restocking supplies regularly to ensure availability for ongoing cleaning needs.
- Maintain safety protocols by ensuring common areas are free of hazards and adhering to health and safety standards.
- Support school events by setting up and breaking down furniture or equipment as required during special activities or functions.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in custodial work, janitorial services, or facilities maintenance is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques including floor care such as buffing, stripping, waxing, and industrial cleaning methods.
- Experience with commercial cleaning equipment and supplies is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and operating cleaning machinery safely.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Nice-to-have skills include residential painting experience or industrial cleaning background that can support various maintenance needs.
