Senior Compliance Manager - North Wharf
  • Play a significant part in shaping ASB Business Bank's approach to compliance
  • Lead & influence design, implementation and oversight of compliance change

The Compliance team develop and implement risk frameworks, standards and processes to enable Business Banking to comply with NZ and international laws and regulations. The team provide advice, guidance and support to all the Business Banking teams including Commercial, Rural and Small Business, Product and Marketing.

Te tūranga | The role:

As a Senior Compliance Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead the business on compliance related queries, incidence and issues, providing trusted advice and guidance while building strong and effective working relationships.

  • Take the lead for ensuring that we are meeting our responsibilities and requirements from a legal, industry and internal governance perspective.
  • Be a subject matter expert on legislative requirements and be responsible for ensuring compliance procedures are effective and efficient in their implementation.
  • Identify the impact of new/proposed/amended laws, regulations and industry codes; recommend submissions where applicable.
  • As a leader you will be responsible for compliance advice and support, developing and implementing risk frameworks to support changing regulatory requirements and assurance programmes.
  • You will play a key role in building a culture committed to enhancing its reputation, continuous improvement and embracing change.

Ō pūkenga | About you:

Someone with excellent stakeholder management, excellent communication skills and the proven ability to navigate ambiguity and the unknown to create new frameworks and policies. Ideally you will have working knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment New Zealand banks operate in.

  • Technical skills include knowledge of FMCA, AML/CFT, CCCFA, COFI and the Privacy Act, as well as broader knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment relating to financial services.
  • Experience in process design, training, Compliance/Operational Risk Frameworks.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills as well as an ability to quickly establish credibility and interact confidently with stakeholders is crucial to success.
  • Proven ability to assess impact of regulatory change on an organization and lead implement of change initiatives.
  • Sound influencing, negotiation skills and the ability to communicate with management and stakeholders at all levels.
