Senior Purchasing Officer

Walter & Wild is one of New Zealand’s most recognised food brands — and we’re proud to have it as part of the Walter & Wild. We’re now seeking an experienced Senior Purchasing Officer to join our team and take ownership of purchasing activities across the Walter & Wild portfolio.

This is a hands-on role at the core of our supply chain. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you’ll work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders across Planning, Production, and Warehousing to ensure materials are sourced at the right time, at the right price, and to the right quality standards—supporting efficient manufacturing and reliable supply.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing end-to-end purchasing of raw materials, packaging, consumables, and related services
• Building and maintaining strong, collaborative supplier relationships
• Working closely with Planning and Production teams to align purchasing with forecasts and demand
• Monitoring supplier performance and resolving issues that may impact production timelines
• Maintaining accurate data and clear procurement records within ERP systems
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across the purchasing function

About you:

• Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally within FMCG or a manufacturing environment
• Strong supplier management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Confidence working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics experience is advantageous) and advanced Excel capability
• Highly organised, detail-focused, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
• A proactive, collaborative approach with a strong sense of ownership
