JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Co Ordinator

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Location of Job: The Co Ordinator for Solace Café will be based at NW Cornerstone premises in Sligo town

Classification: Part-Time (25 hours per week)

Hours of work: The principal working hours will be 09.00am -5.00pm on Wednesdays and as per Solace café rota Thursday - Sunday 03.00pm – 11.00 pm. There is also a requirement to have flexibility outside their normal working hours should an emergency or crisis arises, and their presence is required.

Primary Purpose: The Solace Cafe Service Co-ordinator will support the Café Operations Manager with the planning and operational functions

of the Café and will provide oversight on the day-to-day operations of the Solace café and the provision of quality support services. The co-ordinator will provide leadership on shifts across the service and will supervise designated café support staff and volunteers. The coordinator will work alongside peer support staff and volunteers to ensure services are of the highest quality and support the continued growth and development of the service.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Contribute to the ongoing development of the service in keeping with good practice and Model of Care objectives. 

· Assist in the administration and day-to-day operation of the service. 

· Support the Solace Cafe Operations Manager in the delivery of a quality service ensuring professional standards are maintained in accordance with professional, national and local requirements. 

· Work within current legislation and policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols as laid down by the employer. 

· Work in accordance with the principles and values of recovery as described in the National Framework for Recovery for Irish Mental Health Services 2018-2020.

· The Co Ordinator will support the team, in providing support and practical assistance to service users, and will facilitate and support information sharing to promote choice, self-determination and opportunities and connection with local services and supports as required. Promote physical, emotional, social, cultural, ethnic and spiritual welfare of each service user in care. 

· Ensure that the needs of the service user are met by working in an integrative way with key stakeholders. 

· Treat service users and their families with dignity and respect, promoting a culture of unconditional positive regard at all times. 

· Contribute to the promotion, creation and maintenance of a welcoming, safe, caring, stable environment.  Work constructively and in a positive manner within the team to deliver services, which are safe, progressive, individualised, and meet the needs of those using the service. 

· Work in partnership with the parent, family, and other agencies on behalf of the service user.   

· Actively participate in crisis management. 

· Manage the adherence to the café code of conduct procedures to ensure a safe environment for both staff and service users. 

· Be available, as appropriate to relatives or people of significance to service user, to offer information, support and guidance. 

· Ensure strong record management on all service users supports. 

· Keep records of services that have been signposted to service users to inform and improve signposting service offering in the café. 

· Participate in team meetings and report to the Solace Café Operations Manager on matters affecting the delivery of service. 

· Deputise for the Solace Cafe Operations Manager as and when required. 

· Provide professional guidance and coaching to staff on assessment of need, risk management, crisis prevention, crisis support and incident management and safeguarding concerns. 

· Manage the adherence to the café code of conduct procedures to ensure a safe environment for both staff and service users.  

· Participate in training and development opportunities as agreed with line manager necessary for the role and as part of agreed personal development plan. 

· Manage the recruitment, induction and training of staff, volunteers and students in their continued professional development; as directed by your line manager.

· Work in partnership with the Café team to manage incoming referrals from service users. 

· Promote and manage collaborative integrated relations across the mental health system including Crisis Resolution Team, Single Point of Access, First Response, Safeguarding, Out of Hours Service, Mental Health Liaison Teams, Adult Community Mental Health Services, and Emergency Services etc. 

· Manage upkeep of premises and report any maintenance problems. 

· Supervise staff/volunteers in their roles in line with sectoral best practice with a particular focus on continuous professional development.

· Building positive relationships with service users, staff, external agencies and members of the community who may wish to access or refer service users to Solace Café.

· Be familiar with and ensure that services adhere to the National Guidance for the Protection & Welfare of Children, and with the Child Protection Procedures of NW Cornerstone, including acting as Designated Liaison Person for NW Cornerstone.

· Identify any risks within service areas and review all relevant procedures and controls on an ongoing basis, highlight any Health and Safety concerns to the Operations Manager.

· Contribute to the development and review of the NW Cornerstone’s Strategic Plan.

· Represent NW Cornerstone on relevant interagency and other forums, to highlight and address policy and practice issues, presenting a positive profile of the organisation on all public platforms in line with the ethos of the organisation

Where there are child protection concerns the NW Cornerstone policy on child welfare and protection must be followed and may require a referral to the relevant person in Tulsa. Where there are concerns regarding the safety of a vulnerable adult the NW Cornerstone policy of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults must be followed and may require a referral to the relevant person in the HSE.
