About the Role

We are seeking a Sexual Health Physician to join our small but dedicated team providing specialist sexual health services to our Northland communities.

The role would involve:

  • Providing clinical expertise and oversight for the management of complex conditions including the care of people living with HIV.
  • Working in a flexible manner to reduce the travel burden for patients and ensure high-quality HIV care is accessible to those in rural areas
  • Having the support of a specialist nurse to help manage patient workflow
  • Contributing to clinical leadership, supervision and support of our experienced team of medical officers and specialist nurses

We appreciate the significant challenges in recruiting to a part-time regional position and recognize that flexibility is key. Options include a `remote-first workflow using telehealth for follow-ups and specialist advice complemented by scheduled monthly travel to the Whangarei hub for face-to-face clinics. Practitioners already working within Health NZ may be able to combine this role with their existing position allowing for flexible allocation of their time across services. Alternatively, the prospect of living and working in Northland may appeal. Additional FTE may be considered.
