Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

The role of the Accountant-Intermediate will have direct responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of all accounting transactions. They will perform a variety of complex and potentially confidential duties requiring a thorough knowledge of the organization's policies and procedures.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

  • Prepare necessary entries to record financial transactions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare monthly analysis/reconciliations of various general ledger accounts. Perform overall reasonableness tests and other procedures necessary to verify data integrity.
  • Improves analysis/reconciliation of GL accounts, automating whenever possible.
  • Review and analyze financial and statistical data as it relates to assigned area of responsibility.
  • Collaborates with operational leaders to assist in completing a draft of the annual departmental operating budget.
  • Identify and participate in the implementation of solutions to issues affecting the accuracy of financial records and efficiency of accounting processes.
  • Independently meets monthly deadlines.
  • Exhibits desire to learn new things.

General Requirements

  • Work Experience
    • Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting or related business • Previous accounting experience in the healthcare industry - preferred

    Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related business degree with a minimum of 15 credit hours of Accounting courses

  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills
    • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint • Spreadsheet software knowledge and experience • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement • Able to maintain strict confidentiality • Strong attention to detail • Has strong initiative to resolve issues and is a proactive team player • Ability to uphold the core values of the organization • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills • Ability to prioritize and work effectively both independently and in a team setting • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
