About Bloom Academy
Bloom Academy is a growing online learning community offering engaging tutoring and enrichment classes for kids and teens. We partner with passionate, specialized instructors who help students build confidence, sharpen creative and technical skills, and develop genuine curiosity in a warm, supportive environment.
Our teachers are the heart of what we do — and we're looking for the next great one to join us.
The Opportunity
We're hiring an engaging Songwriting Instructor to teach live online classes for kids and teens. This role is all about the craft of writing songs — helping young writers take an idea and shape it into a finished piece, from the first lyric or melody to a complete, structured song they're proud of.
We're looking for an instructor who can meet students wherever they are — whether that's a teen writing their very first song, a young writer stuck on a chorus, or a student with a notebook full of ideas who needs help turning them into finished work.
What You'll Do
- Teach live, interactive online songwriting sessions for kids and teens
- Guide students through the full songwriting process — generating ideas, developing melodies, and writing lyrics
- Teach song structure (verse, chorus, bridge, hooks) and how to build a complete, cohesive song
- Help students develop their own creative voice and personal writing style
- Coach lyric writing, including imagery, storytelling, rhyme, and theme
- Introduce songwriting tools and approaches such as basic chord ideas, simple arrangement, and demo/recording basics where helpful
- Support students through revision — taking a rough draft and shaping it into a finished song
- Teach one-on-one lessons and/or small-group classes of approximately 2–3 students
- Create a positive, structured, and encouraging virtual classroom
- Adapt lessons to each student's level, interests, and creative goals
- Provide thoughtful feedback that helps students build confidence, skill, and artistic identity
What We're Looking For
- Songwriting experience and a strong grasp of the craft — melody, lyrics, structure, and arrangement
- The ability to guide students through the creative process and help them finish their own songs
- Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, or mentoring songwriting or creative writing to children and/or teens (or comparable experience working with young people)
- A knack for drawing out ideas and encouraging students who are just starting out
- Confident and engaging on camera
- Clear, warm communicator
- Reliable, organized, and professional
- A relevant degree or training in songwriting, music, or a related creative field is a plus
- Experience creating project-based lessons or curriculum is a plus
