Job Summary
Fully responsible for the preparation and reporting of financial records/results of rig assets (and/or other cost centers) in compliance with company’s policies, procedures, related internal controls regardless of rig operating status (Operating, Stacked, Shipyard, Mobilizing, etc.). Apply the principles of accounting in order to prepare timely (adhere to the financial close schedule) and accurate financial records for assigned cost centers. Expectation is that those at Senior Level will mentor Accountant I and II Level and onboard the newcomers. Senior Accountant will also be given more challenging tasks and responsibilities periodically. Senior Accountant will also be giving specific accounting projects.
Job Description
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Preparation and submission of monthly customer invoices with full support and maintenance of same within accounting system.
- Following up with customers and coordinate with operations to ensure contract terms for payment/collections are adhered to.
- Monthly and Quarterly balance sheet account analysis of cost center and entity driven accounts for the responsible cost centers and Business Units.
- Compilation of Monthly Budget Variance (BudVar) analysis report inclusive of applicable variance explanations/notes in accordance with month end timetable and structure.
- Ensure the correct local business rules for entitiy accounting are adhered to.
- Quarterly forecast and annual budget preparation for rigs and cost centers assigned.
- Monthly, quarterly and annual compliance with internal controls.
- Regular meetings with onshore rig teams and offshore personnel as required in order to satisfy month end requirements.
- Adhoc requests and analysis as required by supervisor to support role and business. Also assigned to specific accounting projects. Preparation of contracts summary and review with Rig Manager and Supervisor.
- Mentoring and Training Accountant I and Accountants II levels.
- Involved in fiscal compliance of indirect taxes.
Education:
- Minimum Required: Bachelor’s Degree.
- Preferred Level: Bachelor’s Degree, CPA or CA.
Experience:
- Minimum Required: 6 years in Accounting.
- Preferred Level: Drilling contractor or O&G background.
Skills:
- Minimum Required: Proficient Microsoft Office skills, solid accounting experience/knowledge, strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Preferred Level: Very strong Excel skills, Oracle (PeopleSoft), team mentality, ability to think through and solve problems step by step, etc.
