Nazareth House Dublin is currently looking for a kind and caring Staff Nurses to join our team to enhance and support the excellent quality of daily life for our residents.

Job Title: Staff Nurse (RGN)
Location: Nazareth House, Malahide Rd, Grace Park, Dublin, D03 KW08
Reporting to: Director of Nursing
Purpose of Job: To achieve the highest possible standard of care in a professional manner through direct nursing care and effective supervision of staff members. To take management responsibility for a shift as directed.
Main Responsibilities:
Care:
- Ensure that all Staff Members contribute, to the best of their ability, to the efficient running of the Unit in Nazareth Care Ireland and the creation of an atmosphere conducive to the best interests of the residents. Duties may include acting on behalf of the CNM2 in their absence.
- Report any ill health among residents and make requests for GP / Professional visits where necessary.
- Ensure that each resident has individualised Care Plans that are completed and maintained in conjunction with residents, their relatives and other Health Care Professionals. These are to be updated regularly to reflect their daily changing needs; in accordance with HIQA Standards and Nazareth Care Ireland policy.
- Actively promote and encourage opportunities for independence, irrespective of age and/or dependency level.
- Assess all aspects of residents’ care needs, and document in accordance with required standards and Nazareth Care Ireland policies.
- Regular checks on residents at intervals determined by the Unit Manager, particularly at the beginning and end of each shift. Ensure a clear and concise handover report is given to all relevant Staff Members at the end of each shift.
- Administer prescribed medication in accordance with An Bord Altranais, legislative and regulatory requirements. Document the same in accordance with Nazareth Ireland’s procedures and policies.
- Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Residents' personal and financial affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship which exists with Residents’ communication.
- Participate in Staff and Resident meetings regularly.
- Establish and maintain good communication with Residents, Relatives and with the multidisciplinary team. Provide administrative support when required.
- Ensure that effective safety procedures are managed to comply with statutory obligations, in conjunction with relevant staff e.g. health and safety procedures, emergency procedures
- Observe, report and take appropriate action on any matter which may be detrimental to staff and/or service user’s care or wellbeing, or may inhibit the efficient provision of care.
- Assist in observing and ensuring implementation and adherence to established policies and procedures e.g. health and safety, infection control, storage and use of controlled drugs etc.
- Ensure completion of the incident / near miss forms / clinical risk reporting
- Adhere to department policies in relation to the care and safety of any equipment supplied for the fulfilment of duty.
Training & Development:
- Supervise and instruct junior and new staff members in all aspects of their work in Nazareth Care Ireland, giving help and guidance where appropriate.
- Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence. Keep professionally updated in all areas of clinical expertise.
- Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off-site, as and when required.
Health & Safety:
- Report immediately to the CNM2/ADON, Director of Nursing any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a resident, colleague, self or another.
- Understand, and ensure the implementation of the Health and Safety policy and the Emergency and Fire procedures.
- Report to the Director of Nursing and the Maintenance Manager of any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
- Continues promoting safe working practices within Nazareth Care Ireland.
General:
- Adhere to all appropriate HSE/HIQA guidelines and regulations.
- Maintain all log books and records as required by the Registering Authority, HSE and Nazareth Care Ireland.
- Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
- Assist in the arrangements for fundraising if ever required.
- Notify the Director of Nursing, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
- Ensure the security of Nazareth Care Ireland is maintained at all times.
- Ensure all equipment is clean and well-maintained.
- Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:
Required:
- Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais or be entitled to be so registered
- Have at least 1 year of post-registration experience preferably in the area of care for older persons.
- Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Genuine interest in working with the relevant client group
- Satisfactory Garda Vetting.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: €22.00-€22.29 per hour
Expected hours: 39 per week
