Role Overview
The Strategic Finance Assistant Manager is responsible for driving performance monitoring, financial analysis, and strategic support for portfolio companies and new ventures. This role consolidates operational and financial insights, manages the budgeting and KPI tracking process, and supports new venture assessments and special projects. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, financial acumen, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights for senior management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Management
- Develop performance management tools and KPI templates to track portfolio companies and ventures against business plans and targets.
- Manage Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), ensuring data completeness and timely follow-up on action items.
- Consolidate and synthesize financial and operational reports from portfolio companies to create comprehensive management updates.
- Lead the budgeting process and rolling forecasts; perform variance analyses against targets.
- Develop a deep understanding of each portfolio company’s business model and prepare unit economics to assess revenue drivers, cost structures, and profitability levers.
2. New Ventures Business Process
- Support new venture assessments through market research, competitor analysis, and data gathering on target opportunities.
- Synthesize insights to support investment decisions and development of business cases.
3. Special Projects
- Provide analytical support for business-as-usual (BAU) initiatives, operational improvements, and other strategic projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- 4–6 years of experience in finance, audit, consulting, or portfolio/strategic management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Management, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Management Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong experience in performance management, KPI development, and converting monthly results into actionable insights.
- Excellent analytical, financial modeling, problem-solving, and structuring skills.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities, with the capability to articulate insights to senior stakeholders.
- Strong coordination and implementation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Solid understanding of accounting policies, including capitalization of development costs.
- FMVA or CMA certification is a plus
