Summer Internship Advanced Chassis Control

We’re looking for a summer intern to join our Motion SW Development team, where you’ll be developing advanced chassis control.

The Motion SW Development team specializes in the development of advanced vehicle motion control and energy management functions, encompassing system design, function development, and software engineering for both embedded and cloud-based solutions. It is responsible for creating toolchains and CI/CD pipelines to streamline software integration and deployment, ensuring efficient and high-quality delivery. The team also develops Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems to provide robust testing environments for verification and validation of software functionalities. Additionally, the team focuses on designing functional safety solutions for vehicle motion control systems, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards while driving innovation in automotive software and control technologies.

What You'll Do:

This internship focuses on developing advanced chassis control and state estimation algorithms using model-based approaches. You will work with cutting-edge control algorithms to enhance the stability of the vehicle. All the development will be in MATLAB environment and verification in simulation environments like CarMaker, with an opportunity to validate using real-world driving data. The internship will involve the following tasks and activities:

• Research and develop model-based control algorithms for advanced chassis control functions
• Design and code control algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink environment
• Create and execute simulation test scenarios in Carmaker or similar simulation tools
• Analyze simulation results and refine algorithms based on performance metrics
• Document methodologies, algorithms, and test results
• Validate developed functions using real-world driving data
• Present findings and recommendations to the chassis control team

Who You Are:

• Currently pursuing an MSc in System Controls Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Physics, or related field
• Strong knowledge in Control Theory
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for control system development
• Understanding of Vehicle Dynamics and Chassis Control principles
• Familiarity with State Estimation techniques (Kalman filtering, observers)
• Programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or similar languages
• Knowledge of simulation environments (Carmaker or similar)
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Internship Information

• Location: Gothenburg, Sweden. No relocation support is offered.
• Salary: Paid at a fixed hourly rate.
• Duration: You need to be available for a full-time internship. The start date for this internship will be mid-June and ongoing for about 10 weeks. Details are to be discussed with the recruiting manager.
• Requirements: You need to have a legal permit to live and work in Sweden.
