EROAD’s Summer Internship Programme in our Product, Design and Engineering team is designed to provide you with hands on experience and give you invaluable commercial experience.
The Roles:
We are hiring for the below roles as part of our 2024-2025 Summer Internship Programme:
- Software Engineer Interns
- AppSec Engineer Interns
- UX Designer Interns
- Firmware Engineer Interns
You will gain valuable experience in your desired field and will work on real-life projects alongside experienced team members. Working closely with mentors, delivery teams and fellow Interns, you will be offered the opportunity to be part of a team that is committed to delivering excellence and creating a better world tomorrow.
You will have access to innovative technology, work on challenging projects, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in technology. Whether it is developing existing and new features, solving complex problems, or researching new ways of doing things, you will be empowered to contribute to our vision, purpose, and the betterment of society. You will be onboarded into the organisation and will have regular developmental conversations with mentors and managers.

- Collaborate with team members to design, develop, and test features.
- Learn and apply new technologies and development methodologies.
- Participate in Agile development practices such as stand-up meetings, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Participate in team brainstorming sessions and contribute to the development of new ideas and features.

- Work on bug fixes and enhancements to products.

We understand that you might not have extensive work experience, which is perfectly fine! What matters most to us is your positive attitude, willingness to learn and potential to grow.
You are ideally in your second-to-last year of study in your chosen field, and historically, the majority of our applicants are Engineering students. Typically, we receive the most applications from Software and Computer Systems degrees, however, we have also onboarded interns from varying backgrounds including Biomedical, Engineering Science or Mechatronics for example. We’re open minded!
You may also have some or all the following:
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Are enthusiastic and collaborative.
- Have a passion to work in a fast-paced tech environment.
- Good interpersonal skills; both verbal and written are essential.
- Love learning and solving difficult problems within a team environment.
- Have a “garage project” or portfolio (personal project) you can share with us.

EROAD is a true Kiwi success story in the tech sector! Publicly listed in 2012, we are represented on the NZX and ASX, and recently completed the largest tech merger in New Zealand's history. We continue to grow rapidly, with over 400 EROADers based in NZ, Australia and the USA.
EROAD is committed to making your Internship experience a great one. For example, you will be onboarded and guided by a dedicated buddy who will introduce you to all things EROAD and our customers. You will be treated like a full-time employee alongside your team members, participate in team ceremonies and work on projects that deliver real value to EROAD and our customers. You will receive 1:1 mentorship from your manager who will work with you to shape your career pathway, and you will enjoy participating in social events in the office and make connections with our amazing EROADers.
EROAD’s Summer Internship Programme will run from November 2024 to February 2025, and many of our past Internships have resulted in Graduate placements and long-term careers with EROAD! We ensure you have the tools, technology and training to do your best work, and hope to offer you an entry into the exciting world we create!
Location:
The Internship is mostly held out of our head office in Albany, Auckland and we work in a hybrid environment. On-site parking is provided, and we are located close to Albany bus station.
Eligibility Criteria: You must be...
- Legally permitted to work in New Zealand.
- Available for full-time work from November 2024 through to February 2025.
- Have 12 months or fewer professional working experience in a technology business.
- Available to partake in our Assessment Centre day on Thursday the 1st of August 2024 from 9:00am – 3:00pm.
