About the role

We are excited to share an opportunity for an experienced Production Superintendent to lead shift‑based manufacturing operations at our Orica Deer Park site. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will take ownership of production performance, creating a safe, reliable, and inclusive working environment while delivering against daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.

This is a key leadership role where you will work collaboratively with Supply Chain, Maintenance, Technology, Process, Quality, and Logistics teams to optimise production outcomes, manage operational risk, and drive continuous improvement. You will lead with respect, encourage diverse perspectives, and support a culture where people feel valued, heard, and able to do their best work.
What you will be doing

  • Lead and develop a high-performing production team of approximately 15 operators;
  • Ensure production meets quality and volume targets hourly and daily;
  • Respond to and communicate deviations from production plans, including plant trip notifications;
  • Maintain plant operations within defined safe and efficient parameters;
  • Report and resolve non-compliances, and maximize plant uptime;
  • Integrate process planning with maintenance scheduling and oversee safe maintenance execution;
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and supply chain on short- and long-term production planning.
What you will bring

  • Commitment to safety as the highest priority;
  • Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (preferred);
  • 5+ years of continuous manufacturing experience, ideally in major hazard or chemical facilities;
  • Strong leadership, motivation, and team influence skills;
  • Experience in change management, safety systems, and project management;
  • Proficiency in SAP and MS Office, plus solid understanding of nitric acid and ammonium nitrate production;
  • Excellent planning, multitasking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities; a collaborative team player.
