    Job requirements: University degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent professional experience considered.
    Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the transport/logistics industry with import and export operations.
    Strong understanding of transportation systems and logistics processes.
    Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    Experience with transport management systems (e.g., GFS) preferred.
    Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making ability.
    Excellent verbal and written English (required).
    Additional languages beneficial: Dutch, French, Icelandic, or German.
    Strong leadership and team management skills.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence.
    High degree of initiative, independence, and problem-solving ability.
    Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

    Job responsibilities: The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that Jónar Transport’s customers receive the highest standard of service at all times. This role involves close collaboration with the import and export departments in Reykjavík to ensure operational excellence, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The Team Leader oversees day-to-day activities, ensures compliance with company policies and industry regulations, and drives continuous improvement initiatives.

    Customer Service & Operations

    Deliver outstanding service to Jónar Transport’s customers by ensuring timely, safe, and accurate execution of transport operations.
    Serve as the main point of contact for customers, maintaining and developing long-term relationships.
    Provide customers with up-to-date information, competitive rates, and professional support.
    Ensure all operational processes for import, export, and forwarding (Samskip Benelux 4110) are performed efficiently and on schedule.
    Enter and maintain accurate data in Jónar Transport’s systems, including transport orders, Bills of Lading (BL), invoices, and manifests.
    Manage and verify departmental cost control, including supplier costs, shipping charges, and special agreements.
    Ensure invoices and cost entries are processed accurately and on time.
    Support the Reykjavík office in sourcing and evaluating service providers.
    Assist in allocating costs and income in Jónar’s operational transport system (currently GFS).

    Sales & Business Development

    Identify and forward potential sales leads to the Sales Department.
    Participate in contract negotiations, customer bids, and sales meetings.
    Promote and sell Jónar Transport’s additional services and those of its parent company.
    Contribute ideas for service improvement, process optimization, and operational efficiency.

    Leadership & Team Development

    Supervise departmental employees and ensure proper training, motivation, and professional development.
    Support cross-departmental collaboration within Jónar Transport and with partners such as Samskip and subsidiaries.
    Ensure smooth workflow within the department and provide coverage for absent staff when necessary.
    Maintain a clean, professional, and safe workplace environment.

    Compliance & Quality

    Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
    Maintain knowledge and adherence to Dangerous Goods (IMO/ADR) regulations and INCO 2020 terms.
    Uphold Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards for pharmaceutical transport and participate in GDP training as required.
    Participate in the company’s quality initiatives, goal setting, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Handle analysis and data reporting from transport and logistics systems.
