This is a full-time permanent position with a remuneration range between $98,925 and $139,658 including kiwisaver, appointment remuneration will depend on skills and experience.
The opportunity
We have an opportunity for a skilled and experienced water reticulation leader to oversee the Greater Wellington bulk water connections, pipelines, and supply networks. This will require you to plan and lead a team with a variety of expertise from water reticulation, mechanical engineering and work closely with engineering and electrical utility experts to ensure regular maintenance, and condition assessment of assets is well maintained.
Wellington Water are committed to ensuring water is safe and reliable for future generations and this role will support bulk water planning requirements for future water supply initiatives and the regions water needs in a safe and sustainable way, this also means reactive repair work to support network incidents and working with large commercial and industrial entities that are supplied bulk water to meet their needs, and continuity planning for earthquake or natural events.
About you
With over 200 million litres of treated and untreated water supplied in bulk to treatment plants, reservoirs and industrial/commercial entities the team lead will need to be adept at planning maintenance and identify best solutions to manage the pipeline assets as well as;
- Have a good understanding of public bulk water networks, with both mechanical engineering and water reticulation experience.
- A Water reticulation level 4 (or historical equivalent) qualification to carry out and supervise work on the public network.
- Previous leadership experience and ability to coach and develop staff through qualifications and practical application.
- Ability to manage reactive work planning, and effectively lead repair work on a network that runs 24 hours a day.
- A full drivers license (a class 2 license would be beneficial) with good physical fitness to access and work in a wide variety of locations.
- Expert knowledge in major pipeline equipment and technology to ensure the right tools and replacement equipment is suitable and available for all situations.
