EL1 - Assistant Director, Technical Acquisitions and Finance (APS Mobility Opportunity)
- Lead the acquisition processes that support public access to the Library's collections
- Play a key role in the acquisition and management of digital collections

The Library is seeking to fill the role of Assistant Director, Technical Acquisitions and Finance (EL1) on a non-ongoing basis from 16 June 2025 to 30 June 2026.
The Role
The Assistant Director, Technical Acquisitions and Finance role is integral to the performance of the Section and the Collection Branch. It supports the building of the National Library of Australia’s collection – the largest collection in the world about Australia and the Australian people.
The role manages three teams who deliver a broad range of collection acquisition activities and services that support access to the Library’s collection. It contributes to service and performance improvement through the management of contracts, reporting and engaging in business improvement activities. As a leader in the Section and Collection Branch, the role works collaboratively across the Section, Branch and Library to identify shared opportunities for success and enhance working relationships.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in building, leading and managing high performing teams.
- Adaptiveness, with a willingness to be flexible to work demands and the ability to effectively prioritise workloads to deliver timely outcomes.
- Experience in project management and/or change management (highly desirable).
- Strategic thinking, harnessing information and opportunities, showing sound judgement with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Exposure to a wide range of acquisition and business functions and processes across the Library.
- Opportunities to develop and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.
