About the Role

We’re looking for an energetic, positive, and mission-driven Teen/Youth Sports Engagement Coordinator to help create safe, inclusive, and engaging experiences for youth across multiple YMCA programs. This part-time role is perfect for someone who loves sports, enjoys working with youth, and thrives in a dynamic environment with varying schedules—including evenings and weekends.


In this role, you’ll support three core program areas:

1. Y Lunch League

Facilitate structured sports and recreational games during school recesses that promote physical activity, teamwork, and positive peer interaction.

2. Youth Sports Leagues

Assist with planning and delivering youth sports such as Basketball, T-ball, Track & Field, Volleyball, and Lil Sportsters.

3. Middle School Afterschool Program

Lead enrichment programming focused on leadership, life skills, academic support, and recreation for middle school students.

You will also help schedule part-time program staff and ensure each program runs smoothly, safely, and in alignment with YMCA values.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead and supervise structured sports, games, and activities at school sites.
  • Create weekly program and staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Manage and support the Middle School Afterschool Program, including activity planning.
  • Assist in organizing youth sports leagues, practices, and events.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all youth.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, program teams, and volunteers.
  • Oversee equipment setup, cleanup, and program readiness.
  • Train, mentor, and support part-time staff and volunteers.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and YMCA events.


What You Bring

  • Minimum age: 18 years old
  • At least 6 months of experience working with youth in a classroom, camp, or sports setting
  • Understanding of basic rules/techniques of common sports
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to supervise groups and maintain positive discipline
  • Ability to schedule and coordinate multiple part-time staff
  • Commitment to YMCA values and youth development
  • Ability to obtain DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance, including sex offender screening.


Work Environment

This role is active and hands-on, with work taking place both indoors and outdoors in recreational and school environments. Noise levels may vary, and moderate physical activity is routinely required with or without reasonable accommodation.
