Telecommunications Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Telecommunications Technician to join our growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of telecommunications infrastructure, particularly NBN technologies including fibre optic and HFC networks. This role involves fieldwork, diagnostics, customer interaction, and ensuring all work is performed to industry and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, splice, test, and maintain NBN fibre-opticnetworks and related infrastructure.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HFC (Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial) systems, including modems, RF cabling and customer-premises equipment.
  • Conduct fault-finding, diagnostics, and performance testing using OTDR and other specialised equipment.
  • Interpret network plans, follow technical documentation, and work collaboratively with field engineers and project teams.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OH&S standards, NBN guidelines, and quality requirements.
  • Liaise with customers and provide clear, professional communication during installations, upgrades, and service appointments.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or Electrical Installations (Diploma or higher preferred).
  • Proven experience in NBN fibre-optic and/or HFC installation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Practical experience with OTDRs, fusion splicers, test equipment and industry tools.
  • Understanding of OH&S requirements and ability to work safely in field environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Current Australian driver’s licence.

  • NBN Approved Installer Accreditation
  • Fibre Splicing Certification
  • HFC Accreditation
  • First Aid & OH&S Training
  • High-Risk Work Licence

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
