About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded Temporary General Manager to support the day-to-day running of our business during a maternity leave period.

This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the company, supporting team performance, and maintaining exceptional standards across all areas of the business.

This role is offered on a specific purpose contract (maternity cover). The expected duration is approximately 6 months, however the contract will conclude upon the return of the permanent General Manager.

This is a fully remote position, with occasional in-person meetings required throughout the year.

Sheenco Travel is a luxury travel company specialising in bespoke journeys to Ireland and the UK. We operate internationally, with teams across Ireland and North America, delivering high-end, fully customised experiences for our clients.

The Role

You will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to ensure the business runs efficiently, targets are met, and teams are supported.

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys balancing operational oversight with practical execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business
  • Provide leadership and support across all departments
  • Ensure high standards of customer experience and delivery
  • Work closely with sales and reservations teams to support performance and conversion
  • Monitor KPIs, sales activity, and operational performance
  • Support recruitment and onboarding where required
  • Liaise with finance to ensure smooth billing and reporting processes
  • Identify and implement improvements to systems and processes
  • Lead regular team and management meetings
  • Support the CEO with planning and business priorities

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in a senior operations or general management role
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Commercial awareness with a focus on results and performance
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote environment

Desirable:

  • Experience in travel, hospitality, or service-based businesses

Working Hours

  • Approx. 20 hours per week
  • Typically 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday
  • Flexibility required depending on business needs
