The Role
The Timaru District Council is seeking one individual for the Tracks, Trail and Coastal Labourer for our park team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining tracks, trails and coastal areas so they are safe, functional and welcoming for the community and visitors.
You will carry out general maintenance of physical surfaces and hard assets, such as signage, bins, fences, boardwalks, bridges, seating, and drainage structures, including minor repairs and assisting with new installations. The role also includes mowing, vegetation control, planting, spraying, irrigation and revegetation work for these areas.
You will report to the Vegetation Supervisor and work together with the wider parks team. This is a newly created role with a wide range of variety, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to establish and set a high-quality standard across these areas.
The ideal candidate will have experience in outdoor or horticultural work, a strong focus on health and safety, good teamwork and communication skills, and a current full driver's license. Ideally, you will have experience operating an ATV, or be confident in completing the necessary training.
