General Function
The Transfer Specialist represents Missouri State University to community college students, advisors, and administrators. The Transfer Specialist provides guidance to prospective students planning to transfer to Missouri State, and assists in the development of transfer pathways to facilitate the transfer process. The Transfer Specialist serves in other capacities to ensure an effective partnership between two-year institutions and Missouri State in the delivery of quality services to students.

Description of Primary Duties
The Transfer Specialist represents Missouri State University to community college students, advisors, and administrators. The Transfer Specialist provides guidance to prospective students planning to transfer to Missouri State, and assists in the development of transfer pathways to facilitate the transfer process. The Transfer Specialist serves in other capacities to ensure an effective partnership between two-year institutions and Missouri State in the delivery of quality services to students.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education: A master’s degree is required.
Experience: Two or more years of experience in college or university admission, advisement, and/or other related student service areas is required. Experience working with community college students, staff, and administrators is preferred.
Skills: Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required. The ability to utilize computer-based student information systems is required. The ability to learn and work with complex academic program requirements is required. Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail and accuracy of data and information are required.
Effort: This position may require regular travel to community college campuses with occasional overnight travel. A valid driver’s license is required. Some minor lifting may be required.
