Veterinary Assistant/Kennel Assistant

We are a small general practice with 3 doctor located in Levittown, NY. We are committed to providing the best possible veterinary care to our patients. We recognize the very special relationship between out clients and their pets, and through client education we maximize the quality of life for pets. Our small hospital offers the ability for staff to get to know the clients and make sure that the animals come first.

Full Job Description:

We are looking for a team player that is dependable, detail oriented, able to communicate well, multi task with accuracy and able to provide answers to client questions and provide information as needed. Must be willing and eager to learn. Must have a general knowledge of veterinary medicine and animal care. Experience in the veterinary field is preferred, but willing to train the right person. Saturdays a must. Experience with Idexx lab equipment is a plus.

Duties include:

Restraining animals

Lifting animals (able to lift 30 pounds)

Walking dogs and cleaning up after them

Assisting doctors and technicians accomplish treatments, drawing blood, etc

Feeding animals

Cleaning cages

Help maintain cleanliness of the hospital

Running lab work on Idexx lab machines

Refer questions and concerns to the appropriate personnel
