About the role
Ward B5 is a 32-bed combined gastroenterology and oncology ward.
We are looking for a passionate Ward Clerk to join our gastroenterology and oncology team on a part-time basis. This role will be based at Christchurch Hospital. Ideally, we are looking for a candidate that has a strong administration background coupled with great customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, challenging environment.
As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 3/Profile 3

- Meet and greet patients and whānau
- Confidentiality - check with patients and whānau on how they would like their name displayed or not
- Management of phone calls into ward/unit
- Contact person for the ward/ unit and communicate between departments
- Supply and equipment ordering
- Manage patient bookings
- Manage the rostering system
- Process patient information and records
About you
- Experience using a Patient Management System (desirable)
- Intermediate Microsoft Suite Skills (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Very high levels of confidentiality
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work unsupervised and have high levels of initiative
- A willingness to help those around you
- Organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Able to pick up and use new systems and technology
