Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our financial team. In this vital role, you will manage daily accounting operations, ensure accurate financial record-keeping, and support compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Duties
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday
- Reconcile accounts including general ledger, balance sheets, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Prepare journal entries, account analysis, and financial reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Conduct month-end closing activities including ledger reconciliation and financial statement preparation
- Support governmental and non-profit accounting requirements by adhering to specific standards such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance
- Assist with audit preparations, internal controls, and implementing best practices for technical accounting and financial concepts
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for multiple Meineke locations
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to automotive service operations
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation for internal use and compliance
Requirements
- 2+ years of accounting experience (automotive or multi-unit retail experience a plus)
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or bookkeeping with a strong understanding of GAAP and governmental accounting standards
- Proficiency in multiple accounting software platforms including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar tools
- Strong data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing) and double-entry bookkeeping expertise
- Ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet review, and journal entry preparation efficiently
- Familiarity with financial concepts like debits & credits, account analysis, budgeting, credit analysis, and general ledger management
- Excellent math skills combined with analytical thinking for account analysis and financial reporting
- Experience in public accounting or working within non-profit organizations is a plus but not required
